How to start creating
Tap the plus button in Lawa and choose Start new race. You can also open Public races and tap Create a race. If Lawa says you have too many active races, finish or leave one first.
Step 1: choose a game mode
- Time Race: everyone walks for a fixed amount of time. The player with the most steps wins.
- Distance Race: everyone races toward a step goal. The first player to reach the goal has the advantage.
- Elimination Race: shown as Coming Soon and cannot be selected yet.
Step 2: choose the duration or step goal
- For a Time Race, choose between 1 and 21 days. The default is 5 days.
- For a Distance Race, choose a goal from 4,000 to 100,000 steps in 4,000-step increments. The default is 12,000 steps.
- Short races are easier to finish quickly. Longer races give people more time to join and walk.
Step 3: choose a race map
Maps decide how the race looks and which route players move through. Lawa only shows maps that work for the race type you selected, plus universal maps.
Step 4: invite friends
The invite step is optional. Select friends if you already know who should join. After the race exists, joined players can also invite friends from the lobby.
Step 5: name and visibility
- Race name is what players see in the lobby, public search, and race screens.
- Public race on means other players can find it in Public races.
- Public race off means the race is mainly for invited players.
Starting the race
After you tap Start Race, Lawa creates a lobby. By default the race has a start countdown, and the host can start it early once at least two players have joined.
